Resources & Services

The Art Cottage is a resource center for the visual arts in the Boise School District. It has a large collection of art reproductions, books, and videos that may be checked out by district teachers and art parents.

A kiln is available for ceramic bisque and glaze firings.

The Art Cottage is a source of curriculum information. District elementary schools have one of the most complete visual arts programs available in the Northwest. Inservices can be given on its use to teachers and volunteers.

The Art Cottage can also provide a variety of inservices, workshops and staff development on art media and techniques, art lessons on worldwide cultures, and connections to other curricula such as math, science, social studies, health, and language arts.

The Art Cottage coordinates District secondary and elementary art exhibits and art contests.

The Art Cottage serves as a liaison between the Boise School District and the community including the Boise Art Museum, the Boise City Arts Commission, Idaho Commission on the Arts, City Hall, State Department of Education, Idaho Council on Industry and the Environment, Boise State University, Northwest Nazarene University, Meridian School District, and many community and national businesses and other arts organizations.

The Art Cottage is available to serve the needs of district teachers, staff, volunteers and community. Please don't hesitate to call if we can assist you in opening the world of visual art to your students!

**We also have miscellaneous books, prints, transparencies, etc. for the Portfolios art curriculum. If you’re missing components of the art curriculum at your school, please let us know and we’ll try to provide you with extra material.
