Six hundred twenty (620) members of the Boise District
class of 2008 took the SAT, 49 fewer than in the class
of 2007. By contrast, 1031 students took the ACT, an
increase of 142 from 2007.
Fifty-three percent of the class of 2008 took the
ACT during their time in high school. This participation
rate was seven percent higher than that of the class
of 2007, and the highest rate in the past five years.

Average
SAT Critical Reading scores have improved by 6 points
since 2004, owing at least partially to the decline
in the percentage of SAT test-takers over the 5-year
span. Boise's CrItical Reading average score has remained
above the state of Idaho average, despite the fact
that a far lower percentage of Idaho students take
the SAT than do in the Boise District. The scoring
scale
for SAT Reading, Math, and Writing ranges from 200
to 800.
A similar pattern is generally evident in the SAT
Math average scores, as higher scores have been seen
as the population of test-takers has declined.
The three year history of the SAT Writing subtest
has seen a slight decline in scores at the District,
state, and national levels. Members of the 2006 cohort
who took the SAT prior to senior year did not take
the Writing test, since it was first offered in their
senior year. Similarly, sophomores in the class of
2007 did not take the Writing subtest.
