Question: Will credits I earn from
any university count towards salary advancement?
Answer: The District recognizes only
institutions listed in the "Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary
Education" reference guide. This is the same reference guide used
by the Idaho Department of Education.
Question: Once I complete a class
for credit, what do I need to do?
Answer: You need to order an official
transcript from the university where you completed the class(es).
You may arrange to have them sent directly to the Employment and
Benefits Department at the DSC, or you may deliver them personally. Please
do not send photocopies or grade reports. The only university we
can accept a faxed transcript from is Boise State University.
Question: How does my pay move up
the salary schedule when I take additional classes?
Answer: To receive a salary increase,
your official transcripts must be date stamped
in the Employment and Benefits office by the following deadlines:
MUST BE DATE STAMPED BY:
| November 1st: |
To receive retro pay, effective back
to the beginning of the school year. |
| November 2nd to February 1st |
To receive a partial pay increase. Note: The
pay increase will be pro-rated on the day the transcript
is date stamped. |
| After Feb. 1st: |
The salary increase will be effective the following
school year. |
Question: How do new credits count
after I receive my Master's Degree?
Answer: In order for a Master's degree
to change your salary placement on the salary schedule an official
transcript from the university must have the conferred or completed
requirements date posted on the transcript. Only credits completed
after the degree completion date will count for advancement on
the salary schedule.
Example: A Master's Degree was
conferred on 9/23/2003 and a professional employee
took a class 10/2/2003 with a course completion date
of 10/17/2003. The credits count if the completion
date is posted on the official transcript.
If the transcript states Fall 2003 the credits do
not count for advancement on the salary schedule.
Question: How can I ensure that
my transcript and new credit information has been
received by the Employment and Benefits Department?
Answer: On the BSDWeb,
you can view all transcripts and credits received along with any
pay increases. Please note that
you can only do this from within the District's network. To access
credits and certification information on the District's Intranet:
-
Open
the Novell Applications page (this is the first screen
that appears on your desk top when you turn your
computer on).
- Double click the BSDWeb button;
enter your six digit employee ID # and last 4 digits
of your social security number.
- Highlight "My Info" then click on "Credits & Certification
Information."

Question: It is time for me to recertify,
what do I do with my updated credential?
Answer: The State Department of Education
will send you two original credentials. Please send one of the
originals to the Employment and Benefits Dept. at the District
Services Center. If you prefer, you are welcome to deliver them
in person. Our hours are 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Question: Verification of Inservice
Credits. How do they count?
Answer: Every five years when you need
to re-certify, you can use up to three verification
of inservice credits for re-certification. You will want to hold on to the signed
originals to turn in to the State Department of Ed. for re-certification.
Inservice credits can only count towards a pay increase if they
are taken through a University. You must pay and sign up at the
time of the inservice for them to be listed on an official transcript.
The official transcript must then be ordered and sent to the Employment
and Benefits Department. Any questions regarding in-service training
should be directed to Stacie Curry at 854-4182 or LeAnn Perry at
854-4105.
