EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free
short-term counseling and referral services for employees
and their immediate families who are experiencing personal
problems. Such problems could include, but are not
limited to, the following areas: marital, psychological,
emotional, family, job related, alcohol/drug abuse,
legal/financial.
All counseling is strictly confidential and is provided
by the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Employee
Assistance Program. St. Alphonsus has been providing
this service since 1989 and maintains a highly-qualified
staff of professional counselors. EAP contact

DISABILITY INCOME INSURANCE
Protecting the loss of your income due to illness
or injury is an important component of financial planning.
New District employees may enroll in a voluntary Long
Term Disability plan through American Fidelity Life
Assurance Co. Current employees may make application
at any time, but will be subject to proof of insurability.
After you have exhausted your sick leave and sick leave
bank benefits, the plan may provide up to 60% of your
monthly income (tax-free) to age 65. Premiums are moderate
and may be paid conveniently through payroll deduction.

WORKER'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE
District employees are covered against loss due to
injuries or death sustained during employment. The
District contributes the full premium. This program
is administered through the State Insurance Fund. For

UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
District employees are protected against loss of income
due to loss of employment. The District pays the full
premium. This program is administered by the State
Department of Employment. Employees who normally do
not work during the summer months are not eligible
to claim unemployment benefits during this period.
LEAVES
The following leaves may be provided as appropriate:
personal leave, educational leave,
adoptive leave, parental leave of absence, extended
leave of absence, professional leave, religious leave,
sabbatical leave, jury duty and military leave. For

NOTE: Employees who are enrolled in the District's
group insurance plans and retire with PERSI may use
a portion of their accumulated sick leave to pay for
insurance premiums into retirement.
FAMILY & MEDICAL LEAVE
Under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, or "the
Act", employers are required to recognize eligible
employees with qualifying conditions or events, such
as pregnancy, adoption, or a “serious health
condition," as defined in the Act, who are eligible
for up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave with
benefits. Federal legislation and District policy allows
Family and Medical Leave to run concurrently with paid
sick leave. Should you currently have or anticipate
having a qualifying event or condition, you must contact

SICK LEAVE BANK
The Sick Leave Bank is a voluntary program designed
to provide sick leave coverage after an employee's
earned sick leave has been exhausted due to serious
illness or injury. To participate, an employee must
contribute a moderate number of his or her earned sick
leave days to the Sick Leave Bank in exchange for a
larger number of days, which may be used in the event
his or her normal sick leave has been exhausted. For
more details, refer to the appropriate personnel handbook
or the Master Contract.
HOLIDAYS
Salaried employees are paid for the following holidays:
Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day
and Memorial Day. Employees working under a 249-day
employment agreement are also paid for Independence
Day. Employees working 260-days per year are paid for
Veterans' Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas
Eve Day in addition to the above holidays.
VACATION
The Boise School District feels it is important employees
take time away from work. For this reason, the District
has developed a paid vacation policy for 12-month employees.
Vacation accrual varies according to employee category
and length of contract. Please refer to the appropriate
personnel handbook for more details.
CREDIT UNION
District employees are eligible to participate in
the Capital
Educators Federal Credit Union and may
arrange to have their paychecks or a portion of their
paychecks automatically deposited. Please complete
all paper work at a Capital Educators Federal Credit
Union branch. For more information and enrollment,
call Capital Educators at 884-0150.
DIRECT DEPOSIT
You may have your paycheck directly deposited to the
bank of your choice. You can pick up a Direct Deposit
Authorization form from Payroll or Employment & Benefits,
or download and print
an authorization.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Periodically, courses are offered through the District
at little or no cost. Many of these courses may be
taken for college credit for a nominal charge. For
more information, call LeAnn Perry at the Educational
Services Center at 854-4105 or visit the Professional
Development website.
SEASON PASSES
Employees eligible for benefits receive a season pass
to all District activities and home athletic events.
