 Considering retirement? Please refer to this
checklist:
- All employees retiring with PERSI must attend a
District retirement conference (exit interview).
- Schedule your exit interview - 854-4074 ext.
0
- If you are taking advantage of the ERIP program,
your ERIP application, letter of retirement, and
continuation of benefits form MUST be completed
and submitted by March 21. The State ERIP form,
available in March from the State Department of
Education, must be completed and submitted directly
to the State Department by April 1.
- Regular retirement conferences for employees
not eligible for ERIP are scheduled after April
1. A pre-retirement conference is not required,
but may be scheduled if you so desire.
- Before your retirement conference:
- You will need to bring the following to your retirement
conference:
- Your letter of retirement.
- The names of any beneficiaries you wish to
list if you select life insurance coverage.
- Retiree Re-employment:
New legislation effective July 1, 2007 permits school
districts to employ certain certificated school teachers
and administrators who are receiving PERSI benefits.
These retirees also have to complete the PERSI
form RS132A.
- Through the Sick Leave Entitlement Program, unused
sick leave may be converted to funds to pay group
insurance premiums during retirement. PERSI administers
this program and pays the group insurance carriers
directly.
- PERSI Retirement Workshop: PERSI offers
an enhanced, 7 -hour workshop (Retirement's a Beach),
which is intended to help
those within five (5) to ten (10) years of retirement
from a PERSI employer.
