Board of Trustees
Members
Legal control of the Boise School District is vested
in the seven members of the Board of Trustees, elected
to staggered six-year terms by District residents.
To be eligible for election, a Board candidate must
be at least 18 years of age; a resident and registered
voter of the District; and have no direct or indirect
interest in District contracts. Trustees are elected
at large. School elections are held every two years
on the first Tuesday in September.
Board members receive no financial compensation for
any of the services and support they provide to the
District.

and comments are always welcome.
Rory
Jones, President
Rory Jones was first elected to the Board of
Trustees in 1986. He has a Bachelor of Science
degree in business and a Juris Doctor degree,
both from the University of Idaho. He is active
in civic, community, and professional organizations.
He is a founding partner in the law firm of Trout
Jones Gledhill Fuhrman, P.A.

Janet Orndorff, Vice President 
Janet Orndorff was elected to the Board in
1990. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary
education and a Master of Arts degree in reading.
She has taught at the elementary and secondary
levels. In Boise, she taught for a total of 5
years. She is a member of the Assistance League
and Delta Kappa Gamma. She currently serves on
Idaho's MOST Professional Development Task Force;
is the Chairman of the Bown House Advisory Committee;
is the project director of Operation My Own Book;
and is an officer of the Idaho School Boards
Association.

AJ Balukoff, Trustee  AJ Balukoff was elected to the Board in November
1997. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in
accounting from Brigham Young University. He
is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also
active in community and professional organizations.

Bea Black, Trustee
Bea Black was elected to the Board in September
1992. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics
from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
She became a Certified Public Accountant in 1980
and has been an entrepreneur most of her business
career. She is active in community and professional
organizations and is currently serving as Deputy
Director for Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.

Nancy Gregory, Trustee 
Nancy Gregory was elected to the
Board in September, 2002. She has a Bachelor
of Science degree in Elementary Education from
Brigham Young University. She and her family
have lived in Boise for 17 years where she has
volunteered in many classrooms and served on
numerous building and district committees including
Site Improvement Teams at the elementary and
high school level, elementary and secondary boundary
committees, a graduation requirements committee,
and the District gifted and talented services
committee. In addition, she has mentored parents,
served as PTA/PTO president numerous times, organized
a parent advocacy group, and served as student
council advisor, led a building management team,
and co-chaired the Borah Fine Arts Council.

Dr.
Phil Kelly, Trustee Dr. Phil Kelly was elected to the board in 2006.
Phil is a professor of educational policy in
the College of Education at Boise State University.
He has been involved in various community programs
and organizations since he and his family moved
to Boise nine years ago. He has been married
for 19 years and has three children in the District.

Derick O'Neill, Trustee
Derick
O'Neill is president and managing member of O'Neill
Enterprises LLC, a Treasure Valley real estate
development company. He has been a principal
of O'Neill Enterprises since 1992 and has a strong
history and experience in entitlement, construction,
sales, marketing, project management and property
management.
Mr. O'Neill was born and raised in Boise. He
received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Santa
Clara University in 1989. He is on the board
of directors of the Treasure Valley YMCA, Boise
Public Schools Education Foundation, Urban Land
Institute District Council and is a former board
member of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce,
the Chamber's Executive Committee, and past president
of the Boise Parks and Recreation Commission.

Dr.
Stan Olson, Superintendent of Schools
Dr. Stan Olsons dedication to the education
of public school children spans 30 years. During
that time, he has served as a classroom teacher,
adjunct professor, school consultant and facilitator
in the fields of educational leadership and school
community relations, as well as a superintendent.
Dr. Olson is a highly motivated, well respected,
and effective educator who is dedicated to children
and educational excellence. He is a conscientious,
knowledgeable educator who always keeps student
needs at the forefront of his value system.

Dr. Pete Bailey
Executive Director of Operations
Dr.
Pete Bailey has been dedicated to the field of
education throughout his professional career.
His service to the Boise School District, which
begain in 1985, has included being a classroom
teacher at the elementary level, an elementary
building principal, and an Area Director. He
has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
from Iowa State University, a Master's Degree
in Education from St. Louis University, and a
Ph. D. in Education from the University of Idaho.

Dr. Don Coberly
Executive Director of Curriculum
Dr.
Don Coberly has worked for the Boise School District
since 1984. He has been a teacher at the elementary
level in several districts, was Language Arts
Supervisor for the Boise District from 1984-1994,
and became the District's Curriculum Coordinator
in 1994. He has Bachelor's Degrees in History
and Elementary Education from the University
of Idaho, a Master's Degree in Reading from Boise
State University, and a Ph. D. from the University
of Idaho in Education.
