Why are boundary changes necessary?
The successful passage of the Boise School District
bond in March of 2006 means that consolidation, new
construction and re-location of some schools will
take place. New attendance area boundaries for a
number of schools will therefore be necessary.
What school attendance boundaries will be
affected by this process?
Elementary Schools: Amity, Cole
(to be closed), Franklin (to be closed), Hillcrest,
Horizon, Jackson (to be closed), Jefferson, Koelsch,
Maple Grove, Valley View, new school at McKinley
site, new school at Fairmont Park site. Although
not affected by elementary boundary changes, students
from other elementary schools may be affected by
junior high boundary changes.
Junior Highs: East (new site), Fairmont,
Hillside, Les Bois, North, Riverglen, South, West
(new site)
High Schools: Boise, Borah, Capital,
Timberline
Will the redrawing of District boundaries
require changes to Open Enrollment procedures?
Yes. The changing of District boundaries requires
the District to limit Open Enrollment at Boise
High School, West
Junior High School, and Amity
Elementary School.
When will the approved boundary changes take
effect?
Boundary changes will take effect at the beginning
of the 2008-09 school year.
