Fairmont Junior High first implemented AVID in 2006, with approximately 85 students. They have grown from one 7th grade and one 8th grade class to four 7th grade, four 8th grade and two 9th grade classes. 

As a result of implementing AVID strategies schoolwide and having a strong AVID system in place, Fairmont became an AVID National Demonstration School in 2011. It is one of approximately 150 Demonstration schools across the country, and the only one in the entire state of Idaho.
