Registration Information

- There are no classes held during the summer months.

HOW
DO I REGISTER?
- Registration for our fall sessions begins
September 4, 2009 and is open throughout the session.
- Full payment, including all material fees and a
$3.00 per student transaction fee, is required at
time of registration.
- REGISTER ONLINE: Online
registration is preferred and is available at www.boiselearns.org.
You will receive a printable electronic receipt.
Idaho Statesman version of our current catalog.
- Mail: Print and complete one registration
form for each individual registering for a
class or classes. Mail the full payment, including
material and transaction fees to:

Payment may be made by check or money order payable
to Boise School District Community Education,
or by MasterCard, Visa or debit card.
- Fax: Faxed registrations are accepted
with Mastercard, Visa, or debit card. Complete the registration
form and fax to 208.854.4014.
- In Person: Complete a registration
form and deliver it with full payment to the Boise
School District Community Education Office at the
District Service Center, 8169 W. Victory Road. Office
hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
unless the Center is closed for holidays.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REGISTER FOR A CLASS?
- The cost is $7.50 per instructional hour, with
a minimum charge of $15.00 and a maximum of
$45.00, not including class material fees and a required
$3.00 administrative transaction fee per student.
- See individual class descriptions for class fees.
- All class fees must be paid in full at the time
of registration.
- Material and transaction fees are non
refundable if a student drops a class.
- Students in a hardship situation may apply for
a scholarship to cover tuition fees (see below).
- A student may register for any class when space
is available.
WHEN IS PAYMENT DUE?
- Full payment, including all material fees and a
$3.00 transaction fee, charged per student, is required
at time of registration: MasterCard, Visa, Discover
or debit card preferred.
DO I RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF MY REGISTRATION?
- If you register online, you will be provided an
electronic receipt that you can print. This receipt
is not required for class attendance.
- Students not registering online will only be notified
if a class is cancelled or is full. Community Education
staff will attempt to reach students via email and/or
telephone if a class is cancelled or is full.
- Please keep a copy
of your submitted registration form, and schedule
your class(es) on your calendar!

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
- YES, tuition scholarships may be available for
students in hardship situations. Eligibility
guidelines
are the same as those used for the Boise School District
Free or Reduced Meal Program.
- Scholarship applications, available online or
by calling the Community Education Office, must be
submitted with the class registration form.
- If your family has qualified for the Free or
Reduced Meal Program, complete and submit this form.
- Other hardship scholarship applicants must
complete and submit this form.
- A scholarship will only be awarded for one (1)
class per session per student. Students are responsible
for material and transaction fees.
- Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students
on a first come, first served basis, dependent on
the amount of scholarship funding available for the
current class session.
- Students will be informed whether they have been
awarded a scholarship within two (2) business days
of receipt of their application. Recipients will
be required to pay the $3.00 transaction fee and
any material fees for their class within two (2)
business days of being awarded a scholarship.
CAN I DONATE TO THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND?
- You can pass on the gift of lifelong learning!
- Please consider making a tax deductible donation
to the Boise School District Community Education
Scholarship Fund! It is through generous contributions
that tuition scholarships are made available to students
in need.
- On the Class Registration form, there is a designated
line to add Scholarship Fund donations ($5 - $50).
- When registering online, select "Add More Courses"
and choose "Scholarship Donation" or course code
09W-SCH - (005, 010, 025, 050) depending on the corresponding
dollar amount of $5, $10, $25, or $50.
- Scholarship donations are not refundable. We thank
you in advance for your support!
WHY WOULD A CLASS BE CANCELLED?
- Classes are not scheduled when Boise Public Schools
are closed due to holidays or inservice days.
- Community Education classes may be cancelled due
to inclement weather. Listen to local radio or television
stations for information on school closures or call
the Community Education office at 854-4047.
- If an instructor becomes ill or has an emergency
and needs to cancel or postpone a class, the Community
Education office will make every effort to alert
students via email or telephone.
- In the above cases, classes will be rescheduled
if possible.
- Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements
may be cancelled.
HOW DO I GET A REFUND?
- A refund of class tuition and materials fees will
be given if the Community Education office cancels
the class or the class is full. Transaction fees
are non refundable.
- If a student requests to drop a class at least
three (3) business days before the start date of
the class or has a documented medical reason, a refund
of only the tuition fee will be issued.
- Material and transaction
fees will not be refunded.
- Students may print a Refund
Request Form. Requests will be processed
within 15 business days of receipt by the Community
Education office.
MAY I TEACH A CLASS?
- We are always eager for creative and innovative
volunteer partners to instruct new class
subjects.
- Instructors choose the dates, number
of classes and school location.
- Please visit
our Instructors page for detailed information.
- Current instructors have an opportunity
to promote their business or commercial
venture in the Community
Education catalog in the session they
are teaching.
A business sized ad in our catalog costs
$100. Call the Community Education office

Participation in a Boise School District Community
Education Program physical activity class may be
dangerous and cause injury. The Boise School District
is not responsible for any injury to a participant/student,
nor responsible for any medical, dental, chiropractic
or hospital bill related to participation in a
Community Education activity.
Religious/Sectarian Program
Attendance
and participation in Boise School District Community
Education classes are voluntary. Community
Education classes may provide information about and
discuss sectarian or religious tenants or doctrines.
Community Education classes are not part of the District’s
required curriculum. The District’s religious
expression policy respects the right of each individual
to follow his/her own beliefs, so long as the beliefs
do not infringe upon the rights of others.
Photographs/Videotapes
Each participant consents to the use of photographs
or videotapes taken of them for future program
promotional or marketing materials.
