How to Enroll Your Student in the Boise School District

Kindergarten

1/2 Day Traditional Kindergarten

All elementary schools in our District offer morning and afternoon kindergarten sessions.

Our Kindergarten Handbook & Curriculum Guide is a detailed document covering our District's philosophy and curriculum. The Guide provides you with an excellent overview of what your kindergarten student will learn.

Extended Day Kindergarten

The District offers a tuition-based all-day kindergarten program. Parents who wish to have their child participate in the additional half-day kindergarten pay a tuition fee to support the extra instruction.

Schools offering tuition-based full day kindergartens are determined by the number of registrants. Currently the full day program is offered at the following schools:

  • Highlands Elementary
  • Liberty Elementary
  • Longfellow Elementary
  • Shadow Hills Elementary

Tuition varies slightly from one year to the next and ranges between $225.00 and $275.00 per month. An additional one time, non-refundable application fee of $35.00 is also charged.

Transportation is the responsibility of the parent.

Application can be made directly to one of the participating schools listed above. More information about all-day kindergarten and application form.

Orientation

All elementary schools have a kindergarten registration and open house day in March or April for incoming kindergarten students and their parent(s)/guardian(s). Please contact your school for the exact date of the registration and open house day. Attendance is encouraged but not required.

Please bring:

  • Certified birth certificates (available from Health & Welfare)
  • Immunization records

You will:

  • Receive a free Kindergarten Readiness Guide
  • Receive a free Summer Learning Calendar
  • Receive a calendar with important times and dates for the school year
  • Learn how to prepare your child for Kindergarten
  • Meet teachers and staff at your child's school
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions and get answers
