Instruction will be provided for the student to:
1 SENSORY PROPERTIES
a. demonstrate an understanding of the elements (texture, line, shape, form,
space and color) of design by creating artworks to reinforce their knowledge.
b. examine their own artwork or that of others, and answer specific questions
about the elements of design.
c. identify similar characteristics between visual arts and other disciplines
and their environment.
2 FORMAL PROPERTIES
a. demonstrate an understanding of the principles (balance, emphasis, movement,
rhythm, unity, proportion and repetition) of design by creating artworks to reinforce
their knowledge.
b. examine their own artwork or that of others and answer specific questions
about the principles of design.
3 TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
a. examine their own artwork or that of others and answer specific questions
about the media and techniques used.
b. identify and explain the use of various media and techniques used in their
environment.
c. recognize reproductions/artwork as a specific style, or as produced by a specific
artist.
d. use art media and tools in a safe and responsible manner.
4 EXPRESSIVE PROPERTIES
a. identify subject matter, themes, symbols, and structural organization to interpret
an artist's message.
b. produce an artwork using subject matter, themes, and symbols to communicate
an intended message.
c. classify a work of art as being a specific art style or as having been produced
by a specific artist by identifying characteristics of the style or artistic
work.
d. demonstrate an understanding that there are various purposes for creating
works of visual art. |
