Course Description
Open to: 10 One Year Course
Prerequisite: English 9
Students will study world literature focusing on the
individual’s personal identity, relationships
with others and role in society. Concepts and issues
include decision-making, leadership, and the heroic
model. Students will complete writing (persuasion,
research, literary analysis, exposition and reflection)
focusing on effective communication and language skills.
Students will also learn and practice advanced writing
strategies designed for a variety of academic purposes.
Formal language (style) analysis is introduced. Inquiry
is a part of the writing program as is Modern Language
Association (MLA) style format: spelling, mechanics,
grammar and usage are addressed in the context of student
writing.
