Course Description
Open to: Grades 9 - 12 One Year Course, required
for graduation
Prerequisite: PE A, physical examination; PE B, successful
completion of PE A
Content: Students will receive in-depth instruction
in a variety of co-educational physical activities
that will allow the student to feel successful in accomplishing
physical skills and personal fitness. Emphasis will
be on the value of integrating physical activity and
fitness into the student’s lifestyle. The goal
for the students will be to acquire the knowledge and
skill to implement a personal fitness program that
will help ensure a lifetime of wellness.
- Students will expand advanced skills in a variety
of individual and team sport activities.
- Students will gain knowledge of the five health-related
components of fitness.
- Students will use the F.I.T.T. Principle to understand
and create a personal fitness program.
- Students will learn the barriers and benefits
from regular daily participation in physical activity.
- Students will participate in fitness enhancing
physical activities outside of school.
Students will be graded on
- Demonstration of competency in a variety of motor
skills and movement patterns relating to physical
activity
- Participation in daily physical activity both
in and out of school settings.
- Development of a personal fitness program.
- Demonstration of understanding of the health-related
fitness components and how they pertain to lifetime
health and wellness.
