Course Description
This course examines law-related subjects relevant
to the student's life. Topics include criminal law
and procedure, the law of torts and civil procedure,
and family law. The course emphasizes individual accountability
and the role of law in American society.
A Note on the Standards
The Practical Law curriculum is built around Boise
School District standards and reflects the best professional
judgment of our teaching staff. The district standards
include content knowledge and skills in the following
areas: the role of law in American society; the basic
concepts of criminal law, torts, civil procedure, and
family law; and the basic procedures of civil actions
and criminal prosecutions. While each standard is expressed
through specific, associated instructional objectives,
instructors should seek opportunities to apply the
standards throughout the course.
