Course Description
This course examines contemporary social issues based
on individual and group relationships in society. Emphasis
is placed on the cultural conditions under which individuals
live and their adjustments to a changing society.
A Note on the Standards
The Sociology curriculum is built around Boise School
District standards and reflects the best professional
judgment of our teaching staff. The district standards
include content knowledge and skills in the following
areas: historical, theoretical, and methodological
components of sociology; the language of sociology;
the theories and processes of socialization; the role
of deviance in society; and the institutional organization
of social life. While each standard is expressed through
specific, associated instructional objectives, instructors
should seek opportunities to apply the standards throughout
the course.
