Open to: 10, 11, 12 One Year Course
Prerequisite: None
Content: Students will be introduced to the German language and culture. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will be incorporated on a beginning level. Pronunciation and conversational expression will be stressed.

Vocabulary and structures for which students are responsible. The students will be tested on the structures and vocabulary under the "For Proficiency" columns. format.

Grades

The grade that a student receives in this course will be a reflection of how the student has performed in two areas: the acquisition and assimilation of performance skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening and oral language production. These performance skills are referenced in the approved German I curriculum and its appendix. The course grade will be calculated from scores obtained on unit quizzes and tests, projects and activities, daily assignments, and the End of Course Exam. Progress reports providing current grades or percentages will be issued at the midterm of each quarter.

The End of Course Exam (EOC) will count as 10% of the student’s final grade and help determine whether or not the student has met the State Standards in Humanities for this particular course. It will consist of a written and speaking component as well as a multiple choice exam evaluating listening, reading, cultural and grammatical proficiencies.
