2008-09 STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
During the 2008-09 school year, the Boise School District
will take an extensive look at where we are as a school
district and where we want to place our energies in
the future. Specifically, the District will participate
in a revision of our Strategic Plan that will also
integrate four program audits: Curriculum, Special
Education, GATE (Gifted & Talented Education),
and Athletic/Activity Facilities.
“These steps will help us make an excellent
school district even better,” explained Dr. Stan
Olson, Superintendent. “This is an opportunity
to better serve the educational needs of our increasingly
diverse student population, and the needs of our community
at-large.”
The strategic planning process will engage members
of our internal and external stakeholders and allow
for opportunities for a variety of input throughout
the process. From parents/guardians, students, certified
and classified staff members, and community members,
the strategic planning process is designed to reflect
our community’s vision about its public school
system, and become the preeminent blueprint for the
future direction of the District.
This page is designed to inform and educate you
about our strategic planning process. It will be continually
updated as we move forward with this important strategic
planning process. The goal is to create and seek Board
of Trustee approval for a new strategic plan (BSD 2015)
by the end of this school year.

Strategic Planning Surveys
The Boise School District’s process to update
its Strategic Plan involves collecting data from a
wide variety of stakeholders. Surveys were conducted
to collect this data. The questions on the
surveys included a SWOT analysis, commonly
used during a strategic planning process. SWOT stands
for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
An analysis of the SWOT data will be done by the Strategic
Planning Team in December 2008. A summary of the analysis
will be posted on this web site in January 2009.
All comments collected on the surveys were
compiled anonymously. Over a 3 week period
in October and November, 2008 approximately 3,000 surveys
and 21,000 comments
were
received.
