Driver Education

School Year Program

 

During the 2009-2010 school year we are offering four different driver education class schedules. In doing this we hope to accommodate most students. Sign-up begins immediately for any of the school year programs. SLOTS WILL BE DETERMINED BY ‘FIRST COME FIRST SERVED’ WHEN THE ENROLLMENT FORM AND PAYMENT OF THE DISTRICT FEE OF $210.00 ARE RECEIVED.

ALL SESSIONS:

  • 30 slots will be available at each school and will be filled on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
  • You must submit the enrollment form with payment of the District’s Driver Education fee of $210.00.
    • You may attach a check to the enrollment form (checks will be deposited upon receipt).
      OR
    • Attach the completed Credit/Debit authorization form to the enrollment form.
  • Individual instructors at each school will determine scheduling for their school.
  • Please call 854-6370 after August 10 to verify your enrollment.
  • Students must purchase a permit no later than five (5) days prior to the first day of class.

1st Quarter Session: Starting between September 1 and September 8. Completed on or before October 30, 2009
Locations: Boise, Borah, Capital, Timberline

2nd Quarter Session: Starting between November 2 and November 9. Completed on or before January 15, 2010
Locations: Boise, Capital, Timberline, Fairmont, West
Students may be expected to drive during Thanksgiving and Winter breaks.

3rd Quarter Session: Starting between January 26 and February 2. Completed on or before March 25, 2010
Locations: Borah, Capital, Timberline, Fairmont, West

4th Quarter Session: Starting between April 5 and April 9. Completed on or before May 27, 2010
Locations: Boise, Borah, Fairmont, West

BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR DRIVER EDUCATION, PLEASE CHECK ATHLETIC SCHEDULES, MUSIC SCHEDULES, AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT MAY CONFLICT WITH THE DRIVER EDUCATION SCHEDULE.

After you have verified your enrollment in your selected session, you will have to purchase your permit at the Ada County License Department located at 400 N. Benjamin. The student MUST be 14 ½ years old to purchase a permit and participate in our program. PERMITS MUST BE PURCHASED 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THE 1st DAY OF CLASS.

ITEMS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT

  • TO PROVE DATE OF BIRTH, EACH STUDENT MUST PRESENT: A CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT THE TIME THE PERMIT IS PURCHASED.
  • PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (student activity card, military ID, or passport)
  • LETTER OF VERIFICATION A student applying for a driver education permit must provide written verification from his/her school to the Ada County License Examiner, that he/she is enrolled in school and meets the school’s attendance requirements. The Ada County License Department will accept a written verification on a school letterhead with the principal’s signature or designee, and the school seal or stamp affixed. Home schooled students will require an affidavit which must be signed by their parents.
  • SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS will be required for the issuance of a driver education permit.
  • When going to obtain your permit make sure you have a legal parent with you as both parent and student have to sign for the permit.
  • Students are required to take and pass a vision test to receive a permit.

Students who wish to cancel after the assignments have been made, must contact Valley View Elementary @ 854-6370 to receive a $160.00 refund. The remaining $50.00 will be retained as an administrative fee. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF CANCELLED WITHIN 5 SCHOOL DAYS OF THE START OF THE PROGRAM.
