During the 2008-2009 school year we will be offering
four different driver education class schedules. In
doing this we are hoping that at least one of them
will be able to accommodate most students. Sign-up
may be done beginning immediately for any of the school
year programs. SLOTS WILL BE DETERMINED BY ‘FIRST
COME FIRST SERVED’ WHEN THE ENROLLMENT FORM AND
CHECK FOR DISTRICT FEE of $200.00 IS SUBMITTED.
1st Quarter Session: Starting between
August 26 and September 3 (depending on instructor).
Completed by October 24, 2008.
Locations: Boise, Borah, Capital,
and Timberline (zero hour only at Timberline)
The 30 slots available at each school will be determined
by ‘first come first served’. Submit the
enrollment form and attach a check for the district
fee (payable to Boise Schools) for $200.00. Checks
will be deposited upon receipt. The individual instructors
at these schools will determine scheduling for each
school. Please call Valley View @ 854-6370 August 18-21
to verify your enrollment. You will need to purchase
your permit prior to August 25 once your enrollment
has been verified.
2nd Quarter Session: Starting between
November 3 and November 10 (depending on instructor).
Completed by January 9, 2009
Locations: Boise, Capital, Timberline,
Fairmont, West
The 30 slots available at each school will be determined
by ‘first come first served’. Submit the
enrollment form and attach a check for the district
fee (payable to Boise Schools) for $200.00. Checks
will be deposited upon receipt. The individual instructors
at these schools will determine scheduling for each
school. Call Valley View @ 854-6370 to verify your
enrollment. Students will be expected to drive during
Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
3rd Quarter Session: Starting between
January 20 and January 27 (depending on instructor).
Completed by March 19, 2009.
Locations: Borah, Capital, Timberline,
Fairmont, and West.
The 30 slots available at each school will be determined
by ‘first come first served’. Submit the
enrollment form and attach a check for the district
fee (payable to Boise Schools) for $200.00. Checks
will be deposited upon receipt. The individual instructors
at these schools will determine scheduling for each

4th Quarter Session: Starting between
March 30 and April 6 (depending on instructor). Completed
by May 21, 2009.
Locations: Boise, Borah, Fairmont,
and West

BEFORE YOU SIGN UP FOR DRIVER
EDUCATION, PLEASE CHECK ATHLETIC SCHEDULES, MUSIC
SCHEDULES, AND ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT MAY CONFLICT
WITH THE DRIVER EDUCATION SCHEDULE.
After you have verified your enrollment in your selected
session, you will have to purchase your permit at the
Ada County License Department located at 7200 Barrister. The
student MUST be 14 ½ years old to purchase a
permit and participate in our program. PERMITS MUST
BE PURCHASED 5 DAYS PRIOR TO THE 1st DAY OF CLASS.
ITEMS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A PERMIT
- TO PROVE DATE OF BIRTH, EACH STUDENT MUST PRESENT:
A CERTIFIED BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT
THE TIME THE PERMIT IS PURCHASED.
- PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (student activity card, military
ID, or passport)
- LETTER OF VERIFICATION A student applying for
a driver education permit must provide written verification
from his/her school to the Ada County License Examiner,
that he/she is enrolled in school and meets the school’s
attendance requirements. The Ada County License Department
will accept a written verification on a school letterhead
with the principal’s signature or designee,
and the school seal or stamp affixed. Home schooled
students will require an affidavit which must be
signed by their parents.
- SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS will be required for the
issuance of a driver education permit.
- When going to obtain your permit make sure you
have a legal parent with you as
both parent and student have to sign for the permit.
- Students are required to take and pass a vision
test to receive a permit.
Students who wish to cancel after the assignments
have been made, must contact Valley View Elementary
@ 854-6370 to receive a $150.00 refund. The remaining
$50.00 will be retained as an administrative fee. NO
REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN IF CANCELLED WITHIN 5 SCHOOL
DAYS OF THE START OF THE PROGRAM.
