Program Description

Language Arts includes knowledge of the language itself, its use as a basic means of communication, and appreciation of its artistry as expressed in literature. Language Arts study develops fundamental communication skills and prepares students to understand and use information and to communicate fluently and effectively using the written and spoken word.

Language Arts instruction includes drama, English, journalism, reading, speech, and spelling.

• Young Writer's Conference, February - Cynthia Mann Elementary School, 5401 W. Castle Dr.
• March - Boise School District 6th Grade Direct Writing Assessment
• Spring - Elementary Writing Without Walls
• Spring - Junior High Writing Without Walls
• District Spelling Bees (all held in the District Services Center Boardroom, 8169 W. Victory Rd., Boise 83709)

  • 5th Grade-April 4, 2007, 4:00 p.m.
  • 4th Grade-April 5, 2007, 4:00 p.m.

  • Awards Ceremony-April 10, 2007, 4:00 p.m.
• Spring Idaho Reading Indicator and CBM Fluency Measure will be administered from mid April to mid May.
