Music
The music education program's primary aim is to foster
and promote to a maximum degree the music interests
and aptitudes of each individual student. The program
is based on the fundamental concept that musical judgment
and discrimination, as well as talent, are best developed
through actual contact with good music. Rich and significant
opportunities and stimuli are provided for the student
to progressively broaden and enhance his or her educational
and cultural horizons.
For detailed course descriptions for all grade levels
and subjects, the current District-wide concert and
activity calendar, and complete Music Department staff
assignments, please visit the Music
Department's website.
Art
Our Art programs are designed to provide students
with a solid, discipline-based experience that incorporates
art history, creative problem solving, and exploration
with a variety of mediums. Our primary goal is to allow
all children the opportunity to develop their imaginations
as they study, create, and respond to works of art.
As students develop their knowledge of the basic elements
of design and study the art of world cultures, they
expand their understanding of global differences. These
experiences give them a strong foundation for a better
acceptance of cultural, racial and religious diversity
in our lives.
