Options Manual - For Gifted and
Highly Gifted Secondary Students and for Secondary
Students Transferring into the District
Junior High School
Gifted students in grades 7-9 are served through
Accelerated classes and flexible options. The following
Accelerated classes are available at the junior
high level:
- Accelerated Reading 7
- Accelerated English 7
- Accelerated English 8
- Accelerated English 9
- Accelerated Mathematics 7 (Pre-Algebra)
- Accelerated Mathematics 8 (Algebra 1)
- Accelerated Algebra 2 (9th grade)
- United States History 9: to 1900 (Accelerated)
(9th grade)
Highly gifted students may register for highly
gifted classes in social studies/ language arts,
math and science. These classes are held at Hillside
Junior High but are available to students from
throughout the District who are in the Highly Gifted
Program.

Senior High School
Students in grades 10-12 are served through
Advanced Placement, Accelerated classes and
flexible options. Accelerated classes provide
a substantial increase in tempo of content
presentation and acquisition. Advanced Placement,
a structure of The College Boards organization,
affords students the opportunity to earn
credit for completion of college-level coursework.
