The Boise School District Resource
Conservation Office, created in September of
1997, aids the District in teaching, promoting
and implementing a balance between ecological,
economic, and societal goals. Our vision is to
make the Boise School District a leading educational
institution in demonstrating the means to a sustainable
community through the fair, wise and efficient
use of economic, social and ecological resources.
The Boise School District has
embarked on an aggressive District-wide campaign
to save energy. Our goal is to reduce all energy
consumption in District buildings by 10% and
to achieve 100% participation rate from staff,
students and community groups. To accomplish
our goal we have created The
Keys to Wise Use of Energy resource efficiency
program.
Dr. Bob Dutton, former Deputy
Superintendent, issued a memorandum calling
upon all school district employees to conserve
energy in compliance with Idaho Governor Kempthorne's
Executive Order No. 2001-04 regarding Energy
Conservation.
The Resource Conservation Office
is here to promote, coordinate, and implement
the most effective sustainability practices in
our state. By harnessing Boise's immense physical
and intellectual resources, we are working to
bring positive solutions for today's ecological
challenges closer.
We must strive to find ways
in which each of us can play a role in sustaining
and protecting the health of this planet. Our
smallest actions can have a tremendous effect.
Let us all participate today so that our children
will inherit a better tomorrow. |
