How Should One Apply?
Student Selection Process for the 2008-2009 School Year for the
Treasure Valley Math & Science Center begins December 3rd 2007.
The first step in the
application process is to fill out and submit the
Intent to Test
form. This form is due to our office prior to each subsequent
test date. The Intent to Test form can also be submitted on the
evening of the Open House on January 24th, 2008. The initial testing
dates for the 2008 - 2009 school year included Saturday testing
dates on January 26, February 9, and April 19th. There was also a
Friday afternoon screening session (12:00 - 4:00 PM) on Friday,
March 7th. Summer testing is available
on June 11th, July 9th and August 6th, as space permits.
Current TVMSC students do not need to retest.
The parents of applicants must submit the
Intent to Test form completed, with a working e-mail address for sending out a confirmation.
As an alternative, your family may send a stamped, self addressed
envelope for TVMSC to send a confirmation for testing to your home.
- The admissions process begins with the submission
of the Intent to Test form.
- Applications for 2008 - 2009 are available either by mail or from this website
beginning December 2007.
- Prospective students should distribute recommendation forms
to their teachers during the school year prior to entering TVMSC.
- All forms and records should be turned in to the home school
Counselor's office within 2 weeks of testing so that counselors can
have those documents to the TVMSC office prior to the meeting of
the Student Selection Committee. If your family is
applying from out-of-state, the forms may be mailed to TVMSC by
the applicant's family.
- The forms and records for the applicants testing on one of
the summer test dates, will need to be submitted to the Center
within a week of testing in order
to receive consideration for that second round of student
selection.
- Summer applicants may submit all forms directly to the Center
for timely processing.
- Placement testing for all applicants will be administered
from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the screening test date at Riverglen Junior High School, 6801 N. Gary
Lane, Boise.
- Out-of-state or late applicants may request a late testing
opportunity on the June, July or August dates as spaces in the program
permit.
- Student selection will be conducted when the Student
Selection Committee meets.
- Only applicants who have all of the required forms submitted
and testing completed will have their portfolios considered by the
Student Selection Committee.
- Notification of acceptance for the majority of the incoming
students occurred in April 2008. Notice of acceptance for summer
applicants will occur once portfolios are complete
for each applicant.
- Current TVMSC students meeting performance standards do not
need to reapply.
- Please read through the "About TVMSC"
page for information about course prerequisites.
