The
curriculum at the TVMSC is inquiry-based and relies heavily on integration
of mathematics, science, research, and technology. Some examples
include: Algebra and physics are integrated by using basic trigonometric
proportions and linear equations to find force vector components.
Geometry and biology are integrated by examining surface area to
volume ratios in cell growth analysis. Algebra and biology are integrated
through the study of genetic probabilities. A yearlong research
course provides students the opportunity to make these connections
and further explore these concepts. As students progress through
the program, they become more responsible for developing and presenting
their own unique research, not only within the school, but also
within the local, regional, and national communities. Students become
active participants in the development of their own knowledge.
