I have the great fortune to serve as a counselor to your children
at Amity Elementary. My role as school counselor gives me the
opportunity to be a good listener and help students as they
grow and mature through the developmental process in social/emotional
skills, academic skills, the discovery of career options and
in making safe choices. My door is always open for parent questions
and concerns regarding your child’s success in all walks
of life. Please feel free to call for an appointment or a phone
consultation.
Focus areas:
- Classroom guidance: As a school counselor, I teach guidance
lessons on a weekly basis to all students at Amity. The lessons
cover the three domains of social/emotional, academic and
safe choices.
- Small groups: These are available for all students who
might be faced with a challenging life issue or situation.
The group topics include: divorce, building friendship skills,
academic organization and self-esteem.
- Individual work with students: I am honored to be able
to provide a safe place for students to share their concerns
and feelings. The students are referred to me through parents,
teachers or themselves.
- Parent education: I have taught parenting classes through
the Boise Schools Parenting Education Program. Often, I learned
as much as my students. I believe that parenting is the grandest
profession of all as well as the most challenging. It is
a never ending journey filled with many trials and much joy.
- Parent/staff consultation: I serve as a consultant to parents,
teachers and administrators as well as helping with connections
to our community resources and agencies.
- Other: As Amity’s counselor, I serve on Amity’s
Problem Solving Team, Leadership Team and the Character Education
Committee.
