Mission
The mission of the Amity Elementary School community is to
empower students to become responsible learners and to promote
character development.
Vision
The Amity community fosters learning to embrace the challenges
of the future. We always welcome new families as we embrace
their new ideas and information. We also appreciate our families
who have been apart of Amity for so long and who we look to
for stability. Amity continues to have its excellent academic
reputation. With standards and goals set for us by the Federal
and State Governments and because of our own expectations,
this current era is, without question, one of the most difficult
we have ever faced. The expectations will only become greater.
We aim to meet each challenge with confidence and with determination.
Amity Elementary School students will be empowered and will
represent this area and their families with pride as they move
on into their future endeavors. We have been and will continue
to be a learning community.
Goals
The goal for Amity Elementary School is to exceed the standards
set by the Boise School District and the State of Idaho as
noted in detail in the School Improvement Program (SIP) plan.
Values
The following expectations: Responsibility, Teamwork, Honesty,
Respect and Dignity will be integrated into the Amity Elementary
School curriculum.
Guiding Questions:
- Exactly what is it that we want students to learn?
- How will we know each student has acquired the essential
knowledge and skills?
- What happens in our school when a student does not learn?
Effective Schools Correlates
- Strong Instructional Leadership
- Clear and focused mission
- Safe and orderly environment
- Climate of high expectations
- Frequent monitoring of student progress
- Positive home-school relations
- Opportunity to learn and student time on task
Collaboration
Time has been set aside so each grade level can meet at least
30 minutes per week to collaborate on student learning. Each
collaboration meeting will be driven by an agenda and notes
on the meeting will be returned to the principal, who will
attend meetings as much as possible.
Differentiation
Differentiation may look different from grade level to grade
level. The key piece is the way in which the Guiding Questions
are answered.
