Counselors assist students in the following areas:

    • High School 4 year planning
    • Post high school advising
    • Schedule maintenance
    • Recommendation writing for colleges and scholarships
    • Classroom and evening presentations
    • Standardized exam interpretation
  • Career Planning
    • Tech Prep advising
    • Post high school vocational planning
    • Assist with career exploration experiences/activities
    • Strong Interest Inventory/Myers Briggs Interpretation
    • Career Center
  • Support Services:
    • Short term counseling/crisis intervention
    • Information & referrals to community services
    • Group facilitation i.e. General support, anger, recovery
    • Parent/Teacher conference facilitation
    • Faculty support/counseling
    • Nurse
    • Psychologist
    • Social Worker
    • Transition Counselor

Students are assigned to each counselor alphabetically by last name. 

  • Dian Liles (A -Ha)
    • Education: Capital High School, B.A. University of Washington, M.A. Boise State University
    • Experience: Nursing at Boise High starting in 1986, counseling from 1997, a Boise High Counselor since 2005
  • David Chehey (He - Or)
    • Education: Colton High School (Washington), B.S. Ed. University of Idaho, M.A. Boise State University
    • Experience: Teaching beginning in 1988, counseling since 2000, at Boise High since 2004, current Department Chair
  • Heidi Bangerter (Os - Z)
    • Education: Bountiful High School (Utah), B.S. & M.Ed. University of Utah
    • Experience: Teaching beginning in 1973, counseling since 1979, at Boise High since 1994
  • Court Hanson – College/Career Counselor (All Students)
    • Education: Nampa High School, B.S. Ed, University of Idaho & M.Ed., College of Idaho
    • Experience: Teacher 1984 – 88, Counselor starting in1989, at Boise High since 1993 and Career Center beginning 2005.
  • Beverly Glouser - Transition Counselor
    • Education: Capital High School, B.S. & M.A. Boise State University
    • Experience: Counselor since 2000, at Boise High since 2007
    • The Transition Counselor provides students with the most positive transition from the home school to alternative programs: Boise Evening School, Frank Church High School, and GED. Services include:
      • Consultation with students, parents, and staff regarding alternative programs.
      • Coordinates the transition of students from Boise High School to alternative programs.
      • Facilitates communication between alternative programs and Boise High staff.
