DECA
DECA (An Association of Marketing Students) is very active here at
Capital High School. DECA places students in a learning environment that
stresses free enterprise and helps prepares students for future careers.
DECA’s logo is a diamond and the activities that Capital members participate in
follow the four points:
·
Civic Consciousness (toy drive, Rake Boise, Clothing Drives, etc.)
·
Leadership Development (Chapter Officers, Toastmasters, State
Officers, Managers of our student store and Bean Box Coffee Shop)
·
Vocational Understanding: Marketing courses include Marketing
Economics, Marketing Promotions, Entrepreneurship, Sports and Entertainment
Marketing, Cooperative Marketing, and Marketing Lab.
·
Social Intelligence (students are given many opportunities to learn
the correct way to do business through role plays and opportunities to
attend conferences.)
DECA
members work very hard preparing for competition at the regional, state and
the international level. The DECA state competition is a three-day event
held in March, 2009 in Lewiston. The International competition will be held
late April, 2009 in Anaheim, California.
This
past year Capital DECA was awarded the Diamond Level Award for membership.
Capital had the highest membership in the state of Idaho which included
alumni members and professional members. Congratulations!!!
