Get to Know Your Library!
The library is open from 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each school
day. The library is a multi-use facility that serves all the students
and faculty at Capital High School. Please enter and leave
the library through the main, front doors. You are welcome
to come in and read, study, relax, and enjoy just hanging
out. Food and drink are allowed in the library away from the
computers.
Students may use the Capital High School Library before
school, after school, at lunch time, and during break. During
class time students will use the library with their classroom
teacher. Individuals or groups of students may use the library
during class time when they have a pass from their classroom
teachers.
CATALOG
Use an OPAC (on-line public access catalog) computer to
search library holdings. The library staff will help
you find resources
in any format (book, CD, VHS, DVD, audio book) using
the automated catalog.
APPROPRIATE USE
Library computers are for research on a curriculum related
topic. Games, e-mail, and chat are not allowed. Inappropriate
use of INTERNET resources will result in lost of computer
privileges according to the Appropriate Use Policy
of Boise School District.
CHECKOUT
A current Capital High School ID card is required for
checking out materials. You may not use another student's
ID or
check out materials for another student. The library
loan period
for books and audio books is 4 weeks. CDs can be
checked out for 2 weeks. Reference books can be checked
out
for overnight use only. The library loan period for
VHS tapes
and DVDs
is
2 days. Please return materials as soon as you have
finished with them. It is the student's responsibility
to keep
track of materials they have checked out and return
them by the
date indicated.
FINES
Fines will be charged for late, lost, and damaged materials
at cost of replacement or at the following rates: Books,
music CDs and books on tape: $.10 per day Videos: $.25
per day Reference
materials may be checked out overnight only and are due the
next day before school begins.
Students owing a fine may not check out more materials. Overdue
fines will be charged if you are absent. Unpaid fines will
be attached to a student's registration and permanent record.
Report cards will be held when a fine is owed.
SERVICES
Photocopies may be purchased at the Circulation desk in the
library media center. The cost is $.10 per page. Pages
are single sided.
Computer printing is $.05 per page.
CDs are available for $.50 and floppy disks are available
for $.25.
