Welcome to Collister Elementary! I am honored
to be the counselor at this wonderful school. It is my intention
to ensure success in school for each student in this school.
Schedule:
Monday AM, Tuesday all day, Thursday all day
Focus areas:
- Classroom guidance: I will be in your child’s classroom
once a week sharing lessons that help students
learn to understand themselves better, communicate clearly,
and get along with others. Occasional handouts and letters
will be coming home with your child. Please be sure to read
the letters and discuss the guidance lesson with your child.
- Small groups: As the year goes on, I may offer a variety
of small groups that will assist students in being a better
student, adjust to changes in their lives, or get along with
others better. These groups may have topics such as anger
management, social skills, or organizational skills.
- Individual work with students: My door is always open to
students who need help adjusting school or dealing with specific
problems they are experiencing.
- Parent/staff consultation: My services also include consultation
with parents and staff in the best interests of your child.
If you would like to meet with me, please feel free to call
to set up an appointment.
Sarah Dunn
I graduated from Idaho State University with a BA in Special
Education and Elementary Education. After teaching seven
years in special education and sixth grade, I returned to
Boise
State University to work on my MA in School counseling.
The last seven years I've worked in the Boise School District
as an elementary counselor.
When I'm not working with students at Collister or Pierce
Park, I'm a mom to a 13-year-old son. He keeps me busy
going to skate parks, sporting events, exploring the mountains
and interpreting all things "teenaged."
I look forward to getting to know the students and families
at Collister!
