SAFETY
PATROL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Hidden Springs Elementary School will be recruiting 3rd
through 6th graders for this program. Any children
interested in participating may download this application
(Safety
Patrol Application) and return it completed to the
school office. Application forms are also available in the
forms caddy by the office window. All training will be
done "on the job".
Hidden Springs Elementary also needs parents who want
to be involved in Safety Patrol, particularly in the
mornings and afternoons as helpers at the valet drop off
area and at the front of the school in the cross walk
areas. Please contact Teresa Boggan by phone at
577-8949 if you would like to participate.
Hidden Springs Elementary School 2010-2011 Back to
School Campaign
Dear Hidden Springs Elementary
Parents, Another school year is already upon us!
The PFA is so excited to get going and do everything we
can to make our school and our kids’ education the best in
the state. We’ve already seen some wonderful improvements
to our school. But there is always more we can do.
Especially this year, as the funding for public education
has been so drastically cut. Through the Boise
Public Schools Education Foundation, we have the
opportunity to raise funds as a non-profit. (That means
that the combined value of Federal and Idaho tax
deductions and credits can reduce the actual cost of a
$500 donation to only $129!!) If each HSES family were to
simply consider donating just $25 or $50 or $100 per
enrolled child, we could eliminate the need for more
fundraisers throughout the year. Money raised by parents
will exclusively support projects that directly benefit
students and teachers. We hope that you will
consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation to the HSES
Back to School Campaign in care of the Boise Schools
Foundation using this
form. The
Foundation will supply you with a receipt once your
donation has been received. You may return your donation
to the office at school any time this month.
Regardless of your decision to participate in this HSES
fundraiser, please know how much your continuing volunteer
support of Hidden Springs Elementary means to us.
Money raised through this campaign will fund:
- Classroom supplies
- Art supplies
- Facility
improvements
- Technology in the classrooms
- Live
theatrical performances and assemblies at our school
-
Safety patrol
- End of the year carnival
- Teacher
appreciation activities
- Scholarship fund to help defray
costs for MOSS and field trips for students in need
Without
adequate funding, these programs may not happen. Please
consider making your donation today!

NEWLY REVISED 2010-2011 SCHOOL CALENDAR: The Boise School District Board of Trustees has made an
adjustment to the 2010-11 academic calendar. Given the
funding cuts imposed by the State of Idaho, Boise School
District teachers, administrators, and classified staff
will be furloughed for three days during Thanksgiving
week, and the start date for students will be moved
forward three days. The number of school days for your
student will not change; however, the following calendar
days will be adjusted: School will start on
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 instead of on Monday, August
30, as was indicated in the previous Board-approved
calendar. August 25, the first day of school, will be an
early release day for students. Thanksgiving Break
will be expanded to a full week, November 22-26, instead
of just Thursday and Friday, as has been the case in the
past. The reasoning behind these changes is as
follows: Many families choose to take the week of
Thanksgiving as vacation, creating challenges for
instruction. This schedule aligns with those of
Boise State University and the University of Idaho, which
have a full week for Thanksgiving Break, and with plans
made by the Meridian School District for Thanksgiving
Break. A Wednesday start to the school year
provides time for teachers to establish rules, go over
classroom protocol, get to know their students, and
smoothly transition into the new school year. Log
on to
http://www.boiseschools.org/calendars/current.pdf
to view the entire revised calendar for the 2010-11 school
year. Please be assured that academic
programs in the Boise School District will remain intact
and that the District will continue to provide excellent
educational opportunities for each and every child in
support of our mission of Educating Today for a Better
Tomorrow.
