An overview of our
Accelerated Reading Program
Accelerated Reader is a program teachers use as an enhancement
program. Students are given a STAR test which is a diagnostic
reading assessment tool. This helps the teacher establish a
reading range for that student, and then the student can choose a book
that can be successfully read.
When the student has finished
the book, they may go to the computer and take a reading test
on that book.
There can be from five to twenty questions on the test. After
taking the test, the student will be given a score on how well they
performed on that test. The teacher, student, as well as the
parents, can use this as a guide to how well that student is
doing on comprehension.
We have several books here in
the library, that we have purchased AR quizes for. To choose
a book with a AR quiz, the student needs to look for a yellow
or orange dot
located on the spine of the book. Also under the dot, they can
look to see what reading range the book is, and also the AR points they
receive for successfully taking the test.
This page will allow you to see what quizes
are available. Please don't hesitate to ask Ms. Jackson any
questions you may have. I am very familiar with this wonderful
enhancement program.
