What is the PTA?
The Jefferson Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an active
link between students, teachers and parents. We help fill
in the gaps. . . a voice and a resource for parents, an advocate
for children, a pat on the back for school staff.
PTA Objectives:
Jefferson PTA's main objectives are to improve the educational
environment for all our children and to enhance the family structure
by initiating activities and communication. We strive to
hold one event per month that will either strengthen our Jefferson
Community or raise funds for school improvements.
Meetings:
Our regular meetings are scheduled on the second Tuesday
of every month. These are usually held at 6:30 PM in the school
library, but check with the PTA for any changes. Everyone
is ALWAYS welcome to join us for all events and meetings as new
ideas and suggestions are GREATLY appreciated.
Membership:
Membership in the PTA costs only $6 per person or $10 for
two people from the same family. Your dues not only go
to support school projects but, by becoming a paid member, you
will be adding your support to the world's largest child advocacy
organization. This is important when important legislative
issues arise at the national, state and local levels.
If you would like to become a
member or volunteer, but aren't sure how,
just call our PTA President. Chris Cannon. You can also print out a Membership
Form and return it to the school office or to your child's
teacher.
PTA Board:
The Jefferson PTA is always looking for dedicated volunteers
to take on the responsibilities of running the PTA and its activities.
We need representatives to head up fund-raisers, write
our newsletter, coordinate functions. . . the list goes on and
on. Click here to see a list
of our current PTA Board Members and the duties to which they
have been assigned. If you are interested in a particular
area, or if you have an interest or concern that is not listed,
please contact anyone of the Board to find out more!
