Betty
Young 6 - 9 years, Class 1
Lead teacher Betty Young (Ms. B), began
her teaching career as an early high school
graduate. Ms. B enrolled in a Jr. College
and began observing and working in preschools and took classes
to become a preschool teacher. Her first exposure to Montessori
was in an observation lab during her freshman year. Shortly
thereafter Ms. B moved to Whitefish,Montana where she started
her own preschool. While in Montana she had additional opportunities
to observe Montessori programs. Since that time Ms. B earned
her Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Elementary and
Reading Education, with an Endorsement in Reading and Early
Childhood Education at Boise State University. She has spent
the last 16 years teaching kindergarten in the Boise School
District. This summer Ms. B returned to the Montessori school
she observed in Kalispell Montana so many years ago and began
her lower-elementary training working toward her Montessori
Certification. She is passionate about education, especially
Early Childhood Education, and very excited to be implementing
our district’s new Montessori classroom.
Peggy Watson - Assistant to Class 1
Teaching assistant Peggy Watson, (Ms. Peggy), earned her
Bachelor’s Degree from the State University College
at Cortland, New York and her primary Montessori teaching
certification from Meca-Seton Hinsdale, IL in 1983. She has
been teaching Montessori ever since. Ms. Peggy taught Montessori
programs in Massachusetts, Illinois, and most recently at
the Park Center Montessori School here in Boise. Ms. Peggy
has three grown daughters who are all Montessori graduates!
She is committed to Montessori methodology and thrilled to
be part of our program.
Tenley Gagner-Lutz 6-9 years Class 2
Lead teacher Tenley Gagner-Lutz first discovered the Montessori
Philosophy in high school through a school to work program.
She spent a semester in aprivate Montessori
preschool/kindergarten program. Once she experienceda Montessori classroom she
new she had found her life's work! She thenmoved to Boise to attend Boise State
University where she earned herdegree in Elementary Education. She maintained
her interest in theMontessori Philosophy during her college years and volunteered
andobserved in many Montessori programs in the valley. One of her student teaching
experiences was at Rosehill Montessori inthe Lower Elementary classroom. After
graduation, Tenley went to Omaha,Nebraska to train in the lower elementary curriculum
at the Mid-AmericaMontessori Training Center. She spent her internship year in
IdahoFalls teaching at the Snake River Montessori School in the LowerElementary
classroom. After receiving her American Montessori Society(AMS) Teaching Certification
she moved back to Boise, Idaho where shewas hired to be the lead teacher of the
new lower elementary Montessoriclassroom at the Eagle Montessori Center. Tenley
has spent the last sixyears developing the Lower Elementary program and being
a mentor teacherto two interns. She is pleased to see the Montessori philosophy
becomea part of public education system and is eager to contribute to buildinganother
strong Montessori program.
Christel Nordauser
For the 2007-2008 school year our staff will be joined by an
experienced lower elementary Montessori teaching consultant,
Christel Nordauser, Administrator of the Rose Hill Montessori
School in Boise. Christel received her AMI Elementary and
NCME Primary Certification several years ago and will help
ensure the program gets off to the best possible start.
