Parent-Teacher Communication

Agenda/Student Planner

Every student receives an agenda/student planner at the beginning of the year.  Every assignment should be recorded daily and either checked (for assignments completed in class), or circled (for assignments to be completed as homework). Please check your student's planner every afternoon and discuss needed homework time with them.  In general, other than special projects requiring extended due dates, all work not completed in class is due the next school day.  An example of a student planner that is properly filled out should list the subject, assignment, page numbers, and problem numbers included.  Each assignment will have a check mark if completed, or be circled or highlighted if it is not complete.  An example follows:

    MATH: p. 36, # 1-24, even, #27-30

Reading: The Cay, Chapter 6; W.S. Dat be True?

Language: DOL 7-8; Biography rough draft

    Spelling: Pre-test

    Social Studies: Caribbean notes

    Science/Health: cell model

Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home at least twice per quarter for parent review.  Please discuss the report with your child, sign it, and return it to me by the requested date.  This is my assurance and yours that you are getting the information needed to help your child succeed.

Phone Calls and Conferences

Please contact me via my e-mail (protocol shown at the bottom of this page) or by calling the school (854-8450).  I am available to take phone calls before 8:30 and after 3:20, when I am not teaching students.  I am also available before and after school for conferences and meetings as needed.  Please call ahead if you plan to come in so that I can set aside time for you.
