Policies and Expectations

I actively work to create a classroom climate of caring, acceptance, and safety.  Students brainstorm and create their own classroom rules based upon these principles.

This year, we agreed on the following rules for our classroom:

We agree to:

respect each person's right to learn/teach;

respect each person's private and physical space;

use words and actions to build a cooperative and bully-free environment;

always do and be our best.

Grades

Grades are based upon both formal and informal assessments including daily work, individual and group assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, and any other relevant assessments.  Grades are earned according to the standard district scale: A=90% or above, B=80-89%, C=70-70%, D=60-69%, U=below 60%.  Students earning less than 70% on an assignment or a test may be asked to correct and return their work for a better grade.  Correct and return assignments are due within 2 school days and may receive a maximum grade of "C".

Missing/Late Assignments

Missing or late assignments may be turned in within 2 school days of the original due date for a maximum grade of "C".

Absences

All students must check with me regarding makeup work following an absence.  Work will be collected in a folder marked "Absent Student Folder" and left on the student's desk after an absence.  It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to check with me regarding makeup work and to turn it in by the specified due date (usually 2 days for the first day absent and adjusted as needed for additional days missed.)

Just for fun: If a parsley farmer is sued, can they garnish his wages?
