As the daughter of a teacher (my dad) and
a lawyer (my mom), I've always had a deep
desire to learn and to
teach. After "subbing" in Boise and Meridian for a few years, I
signed my first contract when my youngest child was in fifth grade; my
first assignment
was Maple Grove School, and I've been here ever
since. I am thrilled that two of my
grandsons are also part of
this wonderful school, as second and fourth grade students.
My undergraduate degree is in Language Arts from Cal Poly, Pomona, and
my Masters
degree is in Teaching Through the Arts from Lesley
College. Despite this background,
the subject that I most enjoy
teaching is mathematics--probably because of all the
hands-on materials
(toys!) that can be used to build concepts. Beyond the classroom,
I
have also enjoyed several opportunities to conduct workshops (in
fractions, bases, and
the abacus) at state and national
conferences.
I appreciate the opportunities that my life in Boise has given me, and
I hope to enjoy
teaching here at Maple Grove for several years to
come. It's a great place to be!
