Letter to Parents

Welcome to choir at North Junior High!

I am very excited about our choir program this year. I feel privileged to work with such exceptional students - your children. I am looking forward to a busy and rewarding school year.  My goal for all the choirs is to create a positive musical experience. 

Boise School District has a well-rounded music curriculum for our choral programs.  In addition to singing, students will be exposed to a wide variety of music and will learn many of the elements of music.  We also maintain a focus on the five core values of North Junior High: Respect, Dignity, Honesty, Responsibility and Teamwork.

I’ve included with this letter a schedule of performance dates for the coming year.  Please make note of these dates with your child, as concert attendance is a class requirement.  I also have included an explanation of concert clothing needed for each choir.

To indicate that you have received a copy of our choir schedule, please sign the bottom portion of this letter and have your child return it to me at school.  This will count as an assignment for your child.

Bravissimo (Tenor/ Bass Choir): This Choir will wear choir robes for most performances.  The boys will need a North Choir T-shirt, dark pants, dark shoes and dark socks.. 
No blue jeans or scruffy sneakers, please. 

Carissima (Chamber Choir): This Choir will wear their choir dresses for most performances. 
The girls will also need black shoes and skin tone hose.

All choir members will need a North Choir T-shirt.  These are actually very nice polo style shirts with the choir logo.  This year our shirts will cost $16.00 and will need to be paid for by October 15th.  Students who were in choir in previous years and already have a shirt do not need to buy a new one.

It is absolutely not my intention to cause financial hardship for any student or their family.  Arrangements can be made with me for the provision of necessary concert clothing.  If clothing is needed, please make arrangements with me at least one week before the performance.
