blue note on staffClassroom Participation

Students are expected to come to class prepared with instruments, music, pencils, and a great working attitude.  Classroom behavior is part of your grade.  You receive points just for being in class and trying your hardest.  You can lose points by forgetting your instrument, not being prepared, talking too much, playing when you're not supposed to, or chewing gum in class.  This is a huge NO, NO!  No food or drink in the room.  No homework from other classes. We are a team and all of us need to do our best to contribute to class.

Students are expected to practice outside of class and properly prepare all music they are given.  That's how we get better. You are expected to practice a minimum of 2 hours a week. Practice records are part of your grade and are to be turned in every Monday signed by a parent.

Practice records available on PDF files. Click on the practice record needed and then print.

booksGrading

A or F?  Your grade is based on all of the above items, as well as skills tests, performance tests, and music theory.  As long as you are doing what you're supposed to, when you're supposed to and trying your best at all times, you'll be successful.  You lose points anytime you're not following the rules or are being disruptive to the rest of the class.

Extra credit is available by attending concerts, taking private lessons, and other negotiable items.
