National
Honor Society: Members of the NJH Chapter of the National
Junior Honor Society participate in at least one philanthropic
project per quarter. The projects vary from year to year
depending upon the interests of the students. Meeting are
scheduled as needed. Meetings are usually held during morning
break in the advisor's room. Membership is open to ninth-graders
and second semester eighth-graders. All members must have
at least a 3.71 cumulative GPA.
Eighth-graders inducted into membership second semester form
our core membership for the following year. We also accept
into membership any student who has been a member in good standing
in another chapter and transfers to North.

MathCounts is a yearly National
Math Competition. It is open to seventh and eighth graders.
Students compete against others from around the state. Meetings
begin in December. About 30 students participate in the NJH
program. Click here for this year's results.
The regional competition is in February at Micron. If NJH
qualifies, the team will go to the State competition in March
at BSU. We take the top four students as the "A" team, along
with two alternates. Another team (usually seventh graders)
participate as practice for next year. The students compete
as a team, but only the top individuals qualify for the state
team that goes on to the nationals. For more MathCounts information
go to: http://mathcounts.org/.

Science Olympiad is an extracurricular national
science competition for junior and senior high school students.
Students, in teams of up to fifteen, compete in as many events
as possible. The students prepare for the competition either
on their own or after school. All three science disciplines
are included, Life, Earth and Physical. Also, there are several
“build-it” events that the students do at home. Usually,
North has two teams that compete every year. Over the last
five years, North has won several gold, silver and bronze
medals. Click here for this year's results.
