Monday, May 5:  Novel projects.  HW: Read the description of the Dawes Act.  Write an essay analyzing the benefits and problems of the act.  Due Wednesday.  Smoke Signals viewing.

Tuesday, May 6:  Novel projects.  Smoke Signals and essay writing.  Essay due Wednesday BOP.

Wednesday, May 7:  Novel projects.  Turn in essay.  Study the life of John Carnegie and his contributions.

Thursday, May 8:  Novel projects.  Study the life of John D. Rockefeller and his contributions.

Friday, May 9:  Novel projects.  Study the life of John Pierpont Morgan and his contributions.

OBJECTIVES:  Analyze the rise of modern cities and the new immigrant experience.  Engage in team day.

Monday, May 12:  Conclude study of "Big 3" and JP Morgan.  Read excerpt on rise of modern cities.  Group activity to analyze new immigrant experience.  HW: complete EOC study chart #1.  Due Tuesday BOP.  EOC essay test will take place Tuesday, May 20th.

Tuesday, May 13:  Review EOC #1.  Complete immigrant experience.  Read Chapter 21, section 1 on growth of cities, and outline the section.  EOC study chart #2 and 3 due Wednesday BOP.

Wednesday, May 14:  Review EOC #2 and 3.  Read excerpt from The Jungle and write response.  Due Thursday BOP.  EOC study chart #4 due Thursday.

Thursday, May 15:  Review EOC # 4.  Notes on Populist Party and closing of the frontier.  Guided readings on the frontier. EOC chart #5 due Monday.

Tuesday, May 20:  Write EOC essay.

Wednesday, May 21: Notes on labor unions.  Book Check.

Thursday, May 22:  Notes on city life and new urbanization.

Friday, May 23:  Write a letter to yourself to be received when you graduate!
