Tennis Team politely beat the competition at the Boise Racquet and Swim

individual at the tournament, but it was a total team effort that put
the trophy on Mr. Kobe’s desk. Most every North player won individual
victories that contributed the valuable team points, which took us to
the top. This is the second year in a row that the eighth-grade team
placed first in the city tournament.

Junior High’s two 2006 Science
Olympiad teams performed very well at the Idaho State Level
Competition on Saturday, March 4.
Nineteen seventh-, eighth-, ninth-graders competed in 23 events, such
as Storm the Castle, Mission Possible, Heredity and Disease Detectives.
North placed ninth overall in a field of 31 schools from around the
state.
Competition was stiff with only a ten-point spread between fifth and
ninth places. Four North students earned medals. Over half of the team
members were first-time Science Olympians. Coaches Currie and Ellis

despite not being able to hit a shot in the first half. By playing as a
team and using great fundamentals, they finally beat the Mustangs!
- Food Drive: North Junior High’s Student Council spearheaded a
drive November 14-18, 2005 to benefit the Idaho Food Bank. The
equivalent of almost 3500 pounds was collected through food and cash
donations.

day, students brought themed food items and were rewarded points. The
class earning the greatest number of points for a given day was
recognized with a doughnut party. The winning class for the week was
recognized through a pizza party. Money to pay for the parties was
donated by the Student Council.
Competition
was fierce between the classes, with Ms. Sarah Veigel’s ninth-grade
English class setting the daily high mark. A little collusion towards
the end of the week resulted in very competitive drives between
classes, and led to Mr. Cary Hill's ninth-grade Algebra class
ultimately winning the week's drive.
“The
real winners are each and every one of the remarkable students at North
Junior High who showed they are caring for fellow citizens,” said Ms.

music, to a crowd of around 100 at the recent Hyde Park Street Fair.
Although nerves were in the air and there were some technical glitches,
Cascade played with skill and poise, delighting the enthusiastic crowd.
Kudos to Cascade; we are eager to see what the future holds for this
great teen band." (The Idaho Statesman 9/2005)
