Overdue Policy
1. Fines: North Library does not charge fines for overdue items. The
student pays the cost of the item plus a $2 processing fee if the item
is lost. In case of financial difficulties, other arrangements are
considered.
2. Overdue Items: Items are checked out for one day, one week,
or four weeks, depending upon the type of item. It may be renewed if it
is not on hold.
3. When an item is late, a notice is sent to the student's first period
class. The item should be returned or renewed that day, or brought from
home the next day.
4. If the item is not returned by the second week after it is due, a
letter is sent to the student's parents.
5. If the item is not returned by the third week after it is due,
after school detention is assigned, and the student is expected to
renew, return or replace the item.
6. If the student skips detention, a discipline referral for failing to
serve an assigned detention is sent to the Assistant Principal, and the
student is expected to renew, return or replace the item.
7. Another item cannot be checked out if the student has more than one
overdue item.
