PTO BOARD MEETING MINUTES
December 11, 2007
5:00 p.m.; Cassanova’s Pizzeria
Prior
notice was given to all members of the board
via email and/or phone contact. A quorum
was present.
·
Sally
attended a staff meeting. She discussed some of the things she talked to the
teachers about.
· The PTO would like to start a
spirit day by having all students wear green shirts. Also we would like to start selling popcorn
at lunch on Fridays. Alicia made a
motion to have spirit day combined with popcorn day. Gabbi seconded.
Motion passed. We also discussed selling
school t shirts on this day. Angie will work with Heather to find the right
deal. We will also be looking into
options for low income families who may need help
buying t-shirts.
· The
budget and by-laws for PTO need to be looked at. Sally will try to meet with
the two past presidents to see what changed they recommend.
· We
talked about having a morning “Coffee Break” where parents and teachers are able
to get together. We would provide food
and drink. Gabbi
motion to have a PTO “Coffee Break “ once a
month. Angie seconded. Motion passed.
·
We would like to have a feedback box on or near the
PTO Bulletin Board.
·
There will be a Hospitality Room for parents and
volunteers. It will be located in Mr.
Evans office. We may be able to put a
table or some chairs in the hallway to provide a place for socialization. There are some questions as to how hospitality
events will take place for the teachers in the teacher’s lounge. The hospitality person will need to talk to
the principal to find a solution.

We talked about having a parent survey in the
newsletter. Some questions we need to
ask are: Are we feeling connected as a
community? What can we do about
that? We may offer this survey at the
parent night.
·
We would like to have a
information/feedback night for parents.
We need to disscuss the harbor board dissolvement and what it means to our school. Angie Chester made a motion to have this
meeting. The date will be determined
soon. Gabriells
Moore seconded, motion passed. We will
plan this meeting at the January Open meeting.
This is the beginning of an active movement to get parents involved in
the PTO and in the school. We may have
everyone write down questions to be asked at the info. Night.

We talked about having a family Art nigh with a fun
treat. Maybe an art gallery of
children’s art.
·
We discussed having a PTO newsletter put in the
Owyhee Flyer or sent home separately.
·
We discussed the inactivity of some board
members. We need all members to come as
often as they can. A motion was made and
seconded for Sally to contact any board members who have not come to the last 4
meetings and offer them specific tasks to accomplish. Their other option will be to step down from
their postions.
The motion passed.
·
Their will be a run a thon during field day,
details to be discussed at a later date.
·
Alicia motioned to buy weather proof banners to
announce PTO meetings. The cost will be
no more than $150.00. Heather seconded
the motion, motion passed.
·
The
next meeting will not be the first Tuesday of January. It will be held on January 10, 2008 at 3:30
pm.
