Officer Swift served 20 years in the US Air Force and retired as a commissioned officer in 1996. He was stationed in numerous overseas locations that include Turkey, Panama, Greece, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Iraq. He has traveled over most of western Europe as part of a NATO inspection team. He also is a Desert Storm Veteran. Russ and his wife Janice have been married for 30 years and have two children: Son Russty, is 27 and a USAF veteran and is currently studying nursing at Harding Christian University in Arkansas. Daughter Mariah is 29, is also a USAF veteran and is married to a USAF Staff Sergeant. They live at Edwards AFB in S. California and have two children, Russ's lovely granddaughters Hailee and Hannah age 6 and 5 who call Russ and Janice "Pappy and Grammy."      Russ was a military policeman in the USAF and has worked in civilian law enforcement since retiring from the Air Force. He has worked with the Idaho Department of Law Enforcement, Ada Co. Sheriff's Office and has been with BPD for 10 years, 6 years as an SRO, and this is his fourth year at Riverglen. Russ holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Montana State University and a Master of Science Degree in International Relations from Troy State University -Europe. Russ grew up in the extreme NE corner of California, Modoc County and went to 100 student Surprise Valley High. He is looking forward to working with and building relationships with the Riverglen staff and students and parents.
