Welcome to Roosevelt Elementary School - a school where students
are engaged in their own learning, held to high expectations
by all staff and provided
with a challenging curriculum that allows all students opportunities
to excel in academics. We are proud of our ability to meet
the academic and social needs of all students while fostering
lifelong relationships
between staff and families. Academically,
last year was an impressive year for our students. Roosevelt students
continued to excel on the Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI).
In the third grade, 95.8 percent of our students read at
or above grade level in the spring of 2009, the highest percentage
in the Boise School District. In
addition, 94 percent of Roosevelt fourth graders scored a
three or higher on the State Direct Math Assessment, and
fifth graders were equally impressive on the State Direct
Writing Assessment, with 95.8 percent scoring a three of
better—an increase of 18 percent over the last four
years! On
the Idaho Standards Achievement Test (ISAT), Roosevelt students
excelled in all tested areas. Below are the percentages of
our students in grades three through six who scored proficient
or above on the Spring 2009 ISATs. As
you can see, Roosevelt is
a school dedicated to making sure its students are prepared
for the secondary level of school and life beyond. We thank
all of you who help ensure that Roosevelt offers
a quality education, and we encourage you to come see the
wonderful things happening at our school. Sincerely, JuliAnne
Bronner, Principal
