WHAT
IS THE "ACCELERATED READER" PROGRAM?
Accelerated Reader is a computer based supplemental reading
program designed to help motivate, monitor and manage student
reading practice.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
At least twice a year students are given a Star Reading Test,
a diagnostic reading assessment tool. The test gives students
a reading range that best fits their reading ability.
Books that have an AR test available are coded with a color
dot to help students find books in their reading range. All
books on AR have colored dots and reading level on the spine
of the books.
