Monthly Community Lunch (donations
accepted but never required):
| A community lunch is a time where students can prepare and eat lunch
together in their classroom.
January's community lunch was held on January 19th 2007. Mrs.
Smith provided baked Idaho potatoes. Other students donated the
other fixings for the lunch. |

SOCIAL STUDIES |

In our Social Studies unit we made Tipis depicting where Native American Indians lived.
This was a group building activity with 7 teams of 3 students in each team.

SCIENCE
| Our Science unit on electricity and magnets will start January 22. There
are many exciting experiments that the students will be able to experience.

READING/LANGUAGE ARTS
|
Treasures is our new Reading/Language Arts program. Our home school
connection will be every two weeks in which the parents will receive a short
story, vocabulary and spelling list to study at home with their child.
The unit we are working on right now is Focus on China.
 |
Every Monday each student will bring home their Yellow folder. This
folder needs to be returned by the following day signed by the parent.
We usually do not have homework unless we are working on a big project or if
the student does not finish it during school.
Every night the students should be reading for 15 minutes
and signing their reading log, practicing
ISAT skill refreshers, and spelling words, as well as studying for any upcoming tests.
