Prerequisite: Application and Algebra 1 or concurrent enrollment

Automotive Electronics is a combination of lecture time and laboratory time. The course covers the electronic aspects of the modern automobile. Students learn DC, AC, solid-state, and digital electronics theory. During lab time, students use digital multimeters to troubleshoot electrical errors. They learn to solder wires and components and use heat shrink tubing. Students study printed circuit board design and troubleshooting, microcontroller programming and it’s use. Student will explore career options. In addition, students will practice installing automotive electronic accessory like alarms, navigation systems, audio, and lighting effects.
