Electronics
Technology 1
Open
to: 10, 11, and 12 –
One Year Course
Prerequisite: None
(Algebra I strongly encouraged)
Students conduct experiments in basic direct current (DC) circuits, including DC electricity in series, parallel, and seriesparallel circuits. Voltage, current, resistance, and power properties are emphasized as they relate to DC Circuits. Students perform experiments with laser and learn techniques of designing, building, and soldering electronics circuits through hands-on skill training, along with related theory and career options. Electronics Technology 1 is the first year course of three years of study in electronics. DC theory is the building block for the remainder of electronics; therefore, it is imperative to attain mastery of Electronics Technology 1. Course presentation combines lecture, small group projects, computerized instruction techniques, and group interaction.
Electronics
Technology 2
Open
to: 11, 12 – Semester
Course
Prerequisite: Electronics
Technology 1
This laboratory/lecture-based course will include the study of basic alternating current (AC) electronics. Alternating current measurements and measuring instruments, the use of complex math to solve AC circuits, a study of amplitude, phase, impedance, power in AC circuits and the characteristics of inductors, capacitors, and transformers are all covered in class. This is a qualified dual enrollment credit course with Selland College of Technology/BSU, ISU, and CSI.
Electronics
Technology 3
Open
to: 12 – Semester Course
Prerequisite: Electronics
Technology 2
This course will further explore alternating current theory from Electronics Technology 2, and will explore areas of modern electronics, including digital and analog electronics. Coursework is project-based, with emphasis on the student performing specified tasks in a workplace environment, meeting deadlines, and performing required written documentation associated with each project. This is a qualified dual enrollment credit course with Selland College of Technology/BSU, ISU, and CSI.
